John F. Mahon, HOK Director of Human Resources, Dies

John F. Mahon, Sr., HOK senior vice president and director of human resources, died October 16 at his home in St. Louis following a battle with cancer. He was 62.

John MahonSince joining HOK in 1985, Mahon led the architectural design firm's global human resources initiatives and oversaw its professional staff. He also was a long-time active participant in the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and other professional organizations.

To honor his memory, HOK has established “The John F. Mahon Sr. Scholarship Fund” at St. Louis University High School (his alma mater). Founded in 1818, St. Louis University High School is a private, Jesuit secondary educational institution located in Forest Park South in the City of St. Louis. Mahon graduated from SLUH in 1964 and has recently served on the school's board of trustees and budget and finance committee. He also received a bachelor's degree from Saint Louis University and a master's degree from the University of Denver.

“John was a beloved leader whose legacy will continue to guide and inspire us,” says HOK Vice Chairman Clark Davis. “He had a profound positive influence on our people, our values and our collaborative culture.”

Mahon is survived by his wife of 31 years: Victoria Mahon and three children: John F. Mahon, Jr., Emily Singleton Mahon and Michael Patrick Mahon, all of St. Louis.

Mahon Sr. Scholarship Fund can send a check payable to St. Louis University High School, Attn: Advancement Office, 4970 Oakland Ave., St. Louis, MO, 63110. Please specify “The John F. Mahon Sr. Scholarship Fund” on the memo line. The monies will be placed in a general scholarship endowment fund to be used wherever the need is greatest.
