CNR's 40th birthday party, set for Oct. 29th at the Missouri Athletic Club downtown, is "all about what's right with our industry, even in times like these," Publisher Tom Finan, IV said.'
'Finan said that the event, which is a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity St. Louis, would showcase, "the great good that the people in the St. Louis construction industry can accomplish when they work together."
"My Dad used to say, ‘The 'News' depends upon its friends.' It was both corny and sincere, " Finan said.
"Dad envisioned a renewal of the St. Louis area. He saw a city brought to its full potential through cooperative effort, drawing on the strength and integrity of the companies and individuals who build here.
"Those of us who have continued his vision at CNR have survived, and grown, and learned, and prospered in more ways than we can ever count, with help from more people than I can possibly name here. It is the men and women working every day in St. Louis construction who have made CNR, "The Voice for the St. Louis Construction Industry" for the past 40 years.
"By dedicating the proceeds from this event to Habitat for Humanity St. Louis we recognize my Dad's vision and faith in the ability of the people in our industry to achieve unity, diversity, and the rebuilding of St. Louis."
Companies and organizations have already stepped forward with over $10,000 in event sponsorships. A small silent auction will be held during the cocktail hour. The Arteaga family, of Arteaga Photos, is donating a mural of Downtown St. Louis as one of the auction items.
CNR's Regional Excellence Awards will be presented to the project teams on the 14th Street Mall, Cannon Design Headquarters, Coldwater Creek Treatment Facility, Cottleville City Hall, Gateway Multi-Modal Transportation Center, and Pfizer Building MM during the event.
CNR is also honoring IBEW Local 1 and the St. Louis Chapter NECA with a special Thomas J. Finan, Jr. humanitarian award, named after CNR's founder. Since 2003 IBEW/NECA has wired more than 150 homes for Habitat for Humanity St. Louis. Last year the total was 27 LEED Platinum homes, and this year it will be 24.
Tickets for the event are $75 per person, or $700 for a table of 10. Reservations can be made online by clicking this link or by calling the Habitat for Humanity St.Louis office at 314.371.0400.
