Workers Honored for Saving Woman

On July 20 a awards ceremony was held at the side of the road at Highway 141 and Ladue road. Chesterfield police recognized 10 construction workers credited with saving a woman motorist's life.

On the morning of May 12, Chesterfield Police Officer Craig Friemel responded to an auto accident at 141 and Ladue Road. He arrived and was directed by construction workers at the scene to an overturned vehicle in a ditch. The female occupant was trapped and appeared unconscious and not breathing.

Officer Friemel crawled through a window that had been broken out by a construction worker trying to help, and determined the female was in a position that prevented her from breathing. He enlisted the help of 10 construction workers at the scene who actually moved the car into a position to allow Officer Friemel to pull the victim from the vehicle and begin CPR. The victim was transported to a hospital and has recovered from her injuries.

The Chesterfield Police Department honored the eight construction workers from Fred Weber, Inc. and two workers from Nicholson Construction Co. at a special ceremony.
