Wingate Manor Senior Living Wins National Green Building Award

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has recognized Wingate Manor in Shiloh, IL as its GREEN Affordable Multifamily Project of the Year. The senior living facility and its builder, Gundaker Commercial Group, were honored at the 12th Annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Raleigh, N.C.
 
"This facility is a great example of green building done right while also done affordably," said Eric Borsting, chair of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee.  "This should be an example for multifamily builders everywhere to look to when constructing energy-efficient and earth-friendly housing in their own communities."
 
Wingate Manor is a two-phase senior community located in Shiloh, IL.  The initial phase offers a three-story building consisting of 48 spacious one-bedroom / one-bathroom and two-bedroom / two-bathroom units.  Wingate Manor will include a variety of amenities to serve the community, such as an on-site leasing office, comfortable sitting areas for socializing, a computer / library room, a community room designed for larger social gatherings, a coffee lounge, fitness center, and patio/gazebo. 

Wingate Manor Apartments is a 100 percent affordable senior housing community. The entire community is reserved and accessible for seniors.  The 48 total units consist of 15 one-bedroom garden-style units (635 sq.ft) and 33 two-bedroom garden-style units (815 sq.ft.).  Each unit includes washer/dryer hook-ups, dishwashers, energy efficient appliances, neutral décor and spacious living areas, as well as internet accessibility.  All units and common areas are designed using the principal of universal design in an effort to provide the most accessible community possible. 

Wingate Manor's Grand Opening is scheduled for  May 25.
