When Jim Compton of Compton Roofing realized that an elderly homeowner had been scammed on a home remodeling project he decided to reach out to his fellow members of the Midwest Council American Subcontractors Association. The ASA tore out all the work that the contractor had done and rebuilt it using donated material and labor.
Television Station KSDK had earlier reported on the situation. The contractor who did the faulty work had spent time in jail for scams and was barred from contracting at the time he did the work. KSDK did a followup of the work performed by the ASA member firms.
