Vee-Jay Cement is working with Our Mark on Melanoma, Inc. (OUR M.O.M., Inc.) during the month of June to promote awareness of melanoma.
"Our goal ifor the campaign is to raise $10,000 for the prevention, detection, and potential cure of melanoma," said Chase Ernst, safety and strategic partnerships director for Vee-Jay. "We owe it to those employees working in the field every day to have proper education on the risks associated with melanoma.
Vee-Jay sent promotional materials to the principal contact at each member company of the AGC of St. Louis.
OUR M.O.M., Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit founded by the eight children of Patricia Schellhardt Malone, who died of melanoma in June 2007. The purpose of the organization is to raise awareness and education and prevention of skin cancer. There is currently no cure or effective treatment for metatastic melanoma.
"We are thankful to Vee-Jay Cement for allowing us to partner with them," said Patricia Malone's daughter Elizabeth Schocklee, who is OUR M.O.M.'s board chair. Shocklee is a partner with Evans & Dixon, who practices in the construction industry.
