Ronald McDonal House Charities of Metro St. Louis has celebrated groundbreaking for the third Ronald McDonald House in metro St. Louis and the 300th in the world.
The new Ronald McDonald House, which will be on the campus of St. John's Mercy Medical Center, will provide a "home-away-from-home" for up to 20 families each night whose children are being treated at West County St. Louis hospitals. According to Marty Coyne, president and CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc., the Ronald McDonald House, by keeping families close to their sick children, helps children heal better and faster. He said research also shows that staying at a Ronald McDonald house improves a family's communication with their child's medical team and adherence to complicated treatment plans.
Kadean Construction is the general contractor on the $4.5 million project; Gray Design Group is the architect; and UMB provided financing.
