S. M. Wilson & Co. has completed construction of the $13.6 million Phase II of a new residential style barracks community for the U. S Army Corps of Engineers at the Ft. Leonard Wood military base in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. In January 2008, the company completed the $12.9 million Phase I of the program. Based on the company’s comprehensive proposal coupled with the success of the first two phases, S. M. Wilson has been selected to provide design/build services for the $22 million third phase of the program.
Phase II of the Permanent Party Barracks project involved the design and construction of 19 multi-level apartment buildings that house 190 soldiers. Each 3,660 square foot building consists of five apartment units, totaling 69,540 square feet for the entire project. Each unit features a one-plus-one bedroom configuration with a shared kitchen and dining area. Additionally, each building features a shared central exterior walkway and covered porches for each unit. The 10-acre site also includes parking lots, a basketball court and a sand volleyball court. Construction began in July 2007.
Phase III services will include the design and construction of 27 barracks units, capable of housing 270 soldiers. Each 3,660 square foot building will consist of five apartment units, totaling 98,820 square feet for the entire project. These buildings will include features similar to those built in Phase II. The 11.5-acre site will also include parking lots, two basketball courts, two sand volleyball courts and 14 picnic pavilions. Construction is scheduled for completion in early 2010.
Rosemann & Associates will be providing the architectural services for this phase as they did on the previous two.
