The SITE Improvement Association announced 2008 scholarship recipients at its recent eighth annual scholarship awards dinner.
Recipients are selected by an independent panel based on academic achievement, community involvement, letters of recommendation and financial need. Each student is sponsored by a SITE member company.
“This year the Association was able to increase the amount of money available for scholarships from $15,000 to $17,500. We hope these scholarships will help these young adults in their educational needs and assist in their future occupational endeavors,” said Jay Schultehenrich, SITE executive director.
SITE awarded four $2,500 scholarships and five $1,500 scholarships. Recipients of $2,500 scholarships included:
Jessica Boedges, 18, sponsored by Fabick CAT, a senior at Rockwood Summit High School who plans to major in nursing.
Stephanie Quigley, 18, sponsored by Clayton Engineering, a senior at Troy Buchanan High School, who is planning to attend the University of Missouri – Columbia and major in physical therapy.
Brittany Schopper, 18, sponsored by Fred Weber, Inc., a senior at Northwest High School, who is planning to study psychology.
Katy Mueller, 20, sponsored by Hoette Concrete, a sophomore at Fontbonne University, who is majoring in special education and speech pathology.
The following students received $1,500 scholarships:
Annalise Pfaff, 19, sponsored by Bussen Quarries, a sophomore at the University of Missouri – Rolla, who is majoring in the chemistry of science and technology.
Teah Bowzer, 18, sponsored by Dockler Excavating, a senior at Warrenton High School, who is planning to major in elementary special education.
Sarah Detzel, 27, sponsored by Fred Weber, Inc., who is attending Patricia Stevens College and majoring in interior design.
Edwin Grant, 22, sponsored by Kelpe Contracting, a junior at the University of Missouri – Rolla, who majoring in nuclear engineering.
Jennifer Schott, 18, sponsored by Kelpe Contracting, a senior at Lafayette High School, who is considering the field of pharmacy or pharmaceutical development.
SITE’s scholarships are funded by contributions from contractor members through SITE’s industry fund, SITE Advancement Foundation, and voluntary contributions from associate members. SITE has awarded $111,500 to 67 students since 2001.
