Simons Crafts Energy-Efficient Jewel

Pinnacle Contracting, Inc., is managing construction of a new retail store for Simons Jewelers at 8141 Maryland Ave. in Clayton. Simons Jewelers has been a fixture on Maryland Avenue for more than 17 years. When owner Simon Katz decided to nearly double the size of his store, he chose to stay on the same block by acquiring a neighboring parcel on Maryland Avenue that previously had housed three separate retail businesses.

While maintaining the historic architectural style of the other structures on the block, Pinnacle is installing new technology including an energy-efficient LED lighting and a geothermal HVAC system in the new, 4,600-square-foot space.

Architect for the project is Gunn & Smith. Some of the sub-contractors include Aalco Wrecking, Budget Glass and Door, Grant Masonry, Linek Plumbing, Streib Electric, Welsch Heating and Cooling and Wies Drywall.
