Robert P. Elsperman, P.E., of Tarlton Corp., a St. Louis-based general contracting and construction management firm, has been appointed to the advisory council for the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. Elsperman will serve a three-year term. The advisory council comprises 24 upper-level executives of civil engineering firms across the United States who are alumni of the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue.
Elsperman also recently was elected to a three-year term to the Board of Directors for St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors and St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors Systems, a faith-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the growing senior population. St. Andrew’s sponsors and manages 20 senior communities in Missouri and Illinois that include independent living, assisted living and skilled care, as well as subsidized apartment communities for low-income older adults.
Elsperman has been active in many St. Louis organizations. He served as chairman of the advisory board for the Salvation Army and has been a member of the advisory council for the Hope Center. His other civic affiliations have included the Boy Scouts of America, United Way, Children’s Miracle Network and Howard Park Early Childhood Center. In 2000, Elsperman received the “Individual of the Year” award for general contractors from the Greater Missouri Chapter of the March of Dimes.
Elsperman was named president of Tarlton in 1972. His father, the late Arthur Elsperman, organized the firm in 1945. In 1999, a new generation of the Elsperman family—Tracy Elsperman Hart and Dirk G. Elsperman—became president and chief operating officer/executive vice president, respectively.
