The Minority Contractor Initiative (MCI) and Cross Rhodes Reprographics have joined efforts to create a state-of-the-art plan room geared towards assisting minority (MBE) and women owned (WBE) construction companies. The facility is located at 1712 Macklind Ave and will combine traditional plan room features with cutting edge technology, including on-line access to; PlanWell Bidcaster and Planswift-Construction Takeoff and Estimating software. The plan room will also feature both on-site access to bid (both public and privately funded projects) documents and 24 hour electronic access to bid documents and any associated amendments.
"We are excited to take MCI's services to the next level" said MCI director Kem Mosley. "Our initial thrust was to provide training, capacity building and technical assistance to MBE and WBE contractors and this new plan room was the next logical step" Mosley continued. "I believe in the mission of MCI" said Cross Reprographics president, Elmer Rhodes. "I am pleased to make my facility and staff available to assist these companies as they look to expand their portfolio of projects".
MCI is partnership between non profit corporations; Vashon/JVL Initiative, Inc. and Community Renewal and Development, Inc. It was co-founded by George Robnett and Sal Martinez, the executive directors of the two non profit agencies. Financial support for MCI is provided by the City of St. Louis-Community Development Administration through funding provided by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
