PGAV Designs of $110 Million GA Aquarium Expansion

Dolphins are coming to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta as part of the venue's latest expansion, which will open in November 2010.

The $110 Million project includes an 84,000 square foot space, about the size of two football fields, with a 1.8 million gallon exhibit housing trained bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). The expansion, located on the west side of the present Aquarium building in downtown Atlanta, will house dolphin encounters, viewing windows and dolphin shows.

PGAV Destinations served as both architect and experience designer for this project, following their role as exhibit designer for the highly successful initial phase of the Georgia Aquarium.

"The Aquarium brings together the most desirable elements," says Jim Moorkamp, Principal and Co-leader of PGAV Destinations. "We are pleased that so many visitors are experiencing it."
