Paying It Back in Tough Times

Despite the depression in construction, ARCO Construction, Unico, and Villa Lighting still find ways to help create good housing for low-income families.

ARCO Construction Co. is one of the sponsors of Habitat for Humanity's five-house build in the Carondelet neighborhood. Unico is supplying the heat and air conditioning systems at a discount and training volunteers in the installation of the duct work. Villa Lighting is donating all the lighting fixtures for the houses.

Representatives of all three companies were on hand on Thursday to help with a ceremonial wall raising. A six-day Blitz Build at the site begins on Monday.

All five houses will be built to LEED Platinum standards. The new homeowners look forward to moving into completed houses in August.
