OSHA officials held a special flag-raising ceremony at the headquarters of BSI Constructors Nov. 6, recognizing the firm as the first Missouri construction firm to be approved to self-police safety on all of its construction projects.
BSI Constructors, Inc. earned OSHA's highly-selective Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Mobile Workforce Demonstration for Construction designation. It eliminates the need for repetitive OSHA inspections on BSI projects, allowing the federal safety agency to focus resources on more problem sites.
BSI is not only the first Missouri firm to earn the VPP designation for all its projects, but the first in OSHA's Region 7, which includes Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.
To earn the distinction, contractors must demonstrate exemplary risk management programs and commit to rigorous self policing of safety on their job sites.
