Samuel Welge, CEM, has been named manager of Murphy Company's Energy Solutions group.
In his new role, Welge leads the Energy Solutions Group in its comprehensive approach to yield 30 percent or greater energy cost savings. Murphy's Certified Energy Managers® and LEED EB-certified energy engineers deliver turnkey solutions from design and engineering through installation and maintenance services. An ENERGY STAR partner, the group uses a five-step process, drawing upon Murphy's vast internal resources, technical skills and practical knowledge to produce cost-saving results. Since starting the group, Murphy has worked with more than 300 organizations on energy reduction projects, qualifying customers for more than $1 million in energy savings incentives.
"Sam's extensive knowledge and experience in energy solutions make him the perfect candidate to lead our team," said Anne Hill, vice president of corporate development and former Energy Solutions manager. "He understands the impact energy savings can have on the bottom line and the most efficient and effective ways to reduce energy costs."
Welge has more than 17 years of experience in the industry, most recently working as a regional director at Energy Systems Group LLC, where he was responsible for overall sales and operations for a regional branch covering 90 percent of Indiana. Welge received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla before receiving his master's degree in business administration from University of Missouri-St. Louis. He has obtained several certifications, including Engineer-in-Training, Certified Energy Manager® and Certified Demand Side Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers and LEEDTM 2.0 Accredited Professional from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Welge also is a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers, U.S. Green Building Council and the St. Louis Rambler Rugby Club.
