The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is surveying Missourians on what they desire in a state rail services plan.
In a survey posted at the MODOT site , department officials are asking the public for their views on rail services, challenges, opportunities, costs and benefits.
Survey results and other information will be used to create a more comprehensive plan for freight-rail development, passenger rail and grade crossing safety, MoDOT officials said in a prepared statement.
"It's always a challenge to pay for all the transportation services and improvements Missourians tell us they want," said MoDOT Director Kevin Keith. "So how the state invests our rail transportation dollars says a lot about our priorities and has a major impact on the state's economy."
