Science Center LabThe 4,700 square-foot-lab boasts several workbenches where visitors can conduct experiments using scientific tools.   The majority of funding for the project came from a federal grant.  The lab is the first major new exhibit since the James S. McDonnell Planetarium underwent an overhaul in 2001.

"Our new Life Science Lab launches a new approach to engaging, fun, hands-on learning for children and families," said Science Center President & CEO Doug King. "There is nothing static about this gallery. It is an authentic science experience that lets the individual make his or her own discoveries and grow an appreciation for life sciences that will be critical to our future."
The Life Science Lab includes an atrium entrance, activity benches, a lab classroom and a staff workroom. In the interactive atrium entrance, visitors of all ages will receive an introduction to various life science concepts and skills as well as the chance to view and use constantly changing collection items, biological specimens and science tools.
