McCarthy Wins More Nebraska Healtcare Work

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. was recently awarded a new $7.5 million contract to renovate one level of an existing two-story facility, the 32,069-square-foot Inpatient Rehabilitation Center for Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. Preliminary phasing work started this month while main work on the renovations will start this January and complete in October of 2012.

McCarthy recently completed $250 million in renovations and additions for five Alegent Health hospitals in the Omaha area as part of Alegent's Generation Patient Program. Generation Patient began in May 2007 and completed last month. It included renovations at Immanuel Medical Center, Bergan Mercy Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Midlands Hospital and Lakeside Hospital. Immanuel Medical now offers 100 percent private patient rooms, enhanced comprehensive Cancer Center services, expanded Ambulatory Diagnostic Center plus many other campus enhancements. McCarthy served as construction manager and general contractor for the Generation Patient Program.

McCarthy Project Director, Tate Jacobitz, says he is pleased to be continuing the relationship with Alegent Health with this additional work at Immanuel Medical Center. "The award of a new project for this ongoing client is a confirmation of the quality of our work and our relationship with the great team at Immanuel Medical Center and Alegent Health," said Jacobitz.

McCarthy serves as construction manager and general contractor on this new contract. Renovations to the rehab center include the addition of 36 private rehab inpatient rooms, gym, dining and living space, and support spaces. McCarthy will work with Omaha-based Altus Architectural Studio and Omaha-based Farris Engineering on the renovation of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center.
