Alongside representatives from the City of St. Louis and Walgreens, Koman Properties recently held a ceremony to mark the opening of the $4.5 million, 14,820-square-foot, newly-developed Walgreens in Lafayette Square. The exterior of this built-to-suit location at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Truman Parkway was uniquely-designed to fit within the context of the architecture found in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood.
"It has been a pleasure to once again work with the City of St. Louis on a revitalization project," commented Terry Barnes, senior vice-president of development for Koman Properties. "With the completion of the Lafayette Square location, Koman Properties now has three Walgreens within the city limits. We remain hopeful that this location, much like the ones at Kingshighway and Natural Bridge, and Grand Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, will serve as a catalyst for growth and opportunity in an underserved area."
The project development team for the Lafayette Square Walgreens included Koman Properties, IMPACT Strategies, Tri Architects and Civil Engineering Design Consultants, who served as the real estate developer, general contractor, architect and engineer, respectively. The St. Louis Development Corporation and the City Hospital's Development Company were credited with providing assistance with property acquisition and development.
