Joseph Ostafi IV, AIA, LEED® AP, has joined HOK's St. Louis office as vice president and north central regional leader of the firm's science and technology group.
Ostafi joins HOK following a nearly six-year tenure at Flad Architects in Madison, Wisconsin. During his more than 13 years of overall experience in architecture, his focus has been in the design of science and technology research and development laboratory environments, including manufacturing and site master planning for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clean energy and academic clients. Among his past clients are: National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, US Department of Agriculture, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, University of Wisconsin, Stony Brook University, Caterpillar, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Genentech and more.

His experience allows us to expand the range of services and project types that we offer in our rapidly growing S+T group," Bill Odell, senior vice president and firmwide director of the S+T group said. "His strong background in sustainable design will also add to HOK's depth in these areas, as well."
Beyond serving higher education, corporate, state and federal clients, both regionally and internationally, Ostafi has chaired and spoken at numerous industry conferences on topics of sustainability integration in design, as well as providing insights into designing the scientific workplace of tomorrow.
