Human remains from a single grave were discovered Tuesday, Oct. 14, on a Lambert-St. Louis International Airport road construction project. Work on the relocation of McDonnell Boulevard is on Lambert property that is part of a former cemetery. Lambert contacted all appropriate authorities and was authorized to remove the remains from the site. They are being held pending a proper reburial.
Work on the new two-lane roadway was temporarily halted after the discovery. An archeologist is closely monitoring the status of the project in the event additional remains are discovered.
