Holland Construction Services Inc. recently began extensive renovations on Memorial Care Center in Belleville.
"The $6 million multi-phase renovation to Memorial Care Center will provide the community, staff and patients with an attractive, comfortable and more functional facility," said Mark J. Turner, president and CEO of Memorial Hospital. "The exterior façade will be transformed, and a dramatic renovation to the interior spaces will provide more patient privacy and staff efficiency."
The project involves indoor renovation of 34,000 square feet, including 56 patient rooms, administrative offices, dining, living and reception rooms, and therapy area. Shower rooms, utility rooms and medication rooms will also be remodeled. In addition, two new nurse's stations, a new entry canopy and a new roof will be part of the overall plan.
The facility, used primarily as a patient transition from hospital care to home, will continue to be occupied by patients and staff during construction, a challenge which Holland will meet through close coordination with the Memorial Care staff and the use of a multi-phase production plan.
"Holland Construction is also near completion on the Orthopedic and Neurosciences Center on our main campus in Belleville, and we have been very pleased with their work and responsiveness," Turner said. "They have kept the project on schedule and within budget. We would certainly consider Holland Construction for any future projects."
Memorial Hospital, a 316-bed facility, is owned and operated by Protestant Memorial Medical Center, Inc., a community-based, nonprofit corporation. Serving area healthcare needs since 1958, Memorial Hospital has more than 350 medical staff members representing 42 specialties, and employs 2,300 people.
Holland Construction Services is a contracting and construction management firm based in Swansea, IL.
