Habitat Leads in LEED-Certified Housing

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is celebrating its 25th anniversary and now has even more to celebrate. According to the USGBC, it is the largest producer of LEED Certified Platinum single-family detached homes in the United States; completing a total of 51 in the City of St. Louis over the past three years.

Habitat is completing six new houses in the Jeff VanderLou (JVL) Neighborhood (Habitat has already built 91 houses there) with a dedication planned for March 16. In April, Habitat will ‘Blitz Build' seven additional houses on the same JVL street. With 300 homes already built in the area, Habitat has become one of the leading housing developers in St. Louis.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis regularly ranks among the top 1500 Habitat affiliates nationwide. It is one of only 100 affiliates to build more than 10 houses a year. Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis has set a goal of building 50 houses a year by 2015. Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is a not-for-profit, ecumenical housing ministry working in partnership with individuals and communities of all faiths to improve living conditions and provide affordable housing in the St. Louis community.
