“Green” Products Event Planned May 14

The Missouri– Illinois Architctural Woodworking Institute (AWI) is holding its second annual symposium on sustainable products to educate the construction industry about the various types of green woodworking products that exist in the market and to introduce them to the local
suppliers who carry related items.

Green Products SymposiumThe event will be held May 14 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the William A. Kerr Fondation,  21 O'Fallon Street, just north of the President Casino on the downtown St. Louis riverfront.

The event will consist of two presentations. The first presenter, Richard Poindexter from Columbia Forest Products, will address the issue of
“Decorative Plywood and Interior Air Quality.” The second presenter, LK Wilhelms of Smith & Fong, will discuss “Designing
with Sustainable Bamboo.” Both presentations will focus on knowing the difference between a truly green product and green-washing. A CEU can be earned for each presentation attended and also for visiting the exhibitors’ booths at the event, allowing a total of three CEUs.
