A memorial service will be held Thursday for William M. "Bill" Cox, Jr., former president of Cox & Hunter Company, which was at one time one of the largest roofing deck applicators in the United States. The company was based in Kirkwood.
Mr. Cox resided in Punte Gorda, FL with his wife Bettie after his retirement. During his career he was active in the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis and the Engineers Club.
Several of his nine sons are still in various constructions-related companies. Jody is president of JODAN Architectural Concepts Corp., based in Clearwater FL. Mark Cox is with Custom Aluminum Systems based in Atlanta GA. Tom Cox is president of Bi-State Roof Systems, based in Valley Park, where he works with his brother Chris. Tim Cox is with Trinity Metals based out of Kirkwood. The remaining four sons have their own businesses outside of the construction industry. All at one time worked at Cox & Hunter.
A memorial Mass will be held this Thursday, Feb. 4, at 10:30AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Kirkwood.
