McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. recently promoted Ryan Freeman to serve as the firm's director of business development, St. Louis. In this role, Freeman is responsible for generating building opportunities for McCarthy in the St. Louis metro area and developing strong relationships with industry and community partners throughout the region.
"Ryan began his career with McCarthy working on the job site as a project superintendent and then later project manager," commented McCarthy Central Division President Scott Wittkop. "He now brings this hands-on operations knowledge to his new role as St. Louis director of business development."
Freeman has more than a decade of experience working on commercial, healthcare, education and industrial projects in the St. Louis area. Most recently he served as McCarthy's project manager on a $108 million South Campus expansion project for Edward Jones. Located on the investment firm's existing 13-acre campus on Manchester Road, the 312,000-square-foot, 7-level building, which connects directly to the existing 3-story atrium and basement, offers new open office space, training facilities with high-tech AV capabilities, a 600-seat auditorium, and a new cafeteria complete with pizza oven and café-style dining. Also constructed was a 900-car precast, 4-level concrete parking structure.
"In his role as project manager, Ryan managed the client and designer relationships, construction staff, budget and schedule activities to ensure safe and high-quality performance," explained McCarthy Senior Vice President Paul Hartwig. "This depth of understanding of the building process will provide future clients and partners with valuable insight as they begin to plan their projects."
Freeman is an active volunteer with the St. Louis Construction Careers Center helping develop the construction work force of tomorrow. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
