Recently completed wastewater facilities planning provided by the team of Rhutasel and Associates, Inc., and Horner & Shifrin, Inc., will aid in providing for existing needs and future growth for the Village of Freeburg, IL’s, wastewater collection and treatment systems. The Freeburg Facilities Planning Area (FPA) encompasses an area of about 14,000 acres around Freeburg. The plan provides recommendations for both new and renovated wastewater collection and treatment facilities for a 20-year planning period.
Freeburg officials recognized the need to plan for growth as a result of improvements made to Highway 13/15 into the Village and other enhancements. The improvements will provide the financial resources and wastewater infrastructure necessary for the foreseeable future. As a result, the Village’s wastewater treatment system needs to be upgraded to support proposed residential and commercial developments. According to Horner & Shifrin Project Manager John Lauth, “By proactively initiating the facility plan program, the Rhutasel/Horner & Shifrin team was able to make recommendations that will help the Village make the improvements needed in a phased time frame.”
