Contegra Provides Services on $22 Million Warehouse Expansion

Contegra Construction Co. is providing $22 million in construction services to expand the Westway III distribution center, located in the Gateway Commerce Center in Madison Country IL. The center will be expanded from 580,000 to nearly 1.2 million square feet to accommodate the needs of tenant Proctor & Gamble.

Contegra is providing complete turn-key construction services for the space, which when completed will have a 1,138,000-square-foot warehouse zone topped by 32-foot clear-height ceilings plus 20,000 square feet of administrative area. The cost of the expansion, including interior tenant improvements and street and utility extensions will be $22 million. Completion is targeted for December, 2008.

The new facility will enable Proctor  Gamble to consolidate its metro St. Louis distribution operations into one building. The consumer products giant currently leases space in multiple buildings across the region, including at Gateway.

The 2,300-acre distribution park, located at the intersection of I-270 and I-255, was launched in 1997 and currently hosts roughly nine million square feet of distribution space in 19 buildings. Other corporations with a major presence at Gateway are The Dial Corporation, Hershey  Foods Corp., Unilever,  and OHL.
