Robert G. Brinkmann, founder of St. Louis, Mo.-based Brinkmann Constructors, has named long-time key managers Brian Satterthwaite as president and Tom Oberle as executive vice president. Brinkmann assumes the position of chief executive officer.
Satterthwaite, 43, will lead day-to-day operations with Oberle, 42, focused on project acquisition and pre-construction planning, including value engineering. Satterthwaite and Oberle have been part of the firm's ownership since 2006. Satterthwaite joined the design-build contractor in 1994; Oberle in 1993.
Brinkmann, 61, will continue to be active in the 80-person firm, concentrating on growth initiatives and continuing to shape its corporate culture and vision for the future. He founded the company in 1984. Like Brinkmann, both Satterthwaite and Oberle graduated from the civil engineering program at University of Missouri-Rolla, now known as Missouri University of Science and Technology.
"Brinkmann Constructors now has two strong, experienced professionals in place to help lead us through our next phase of maturation and growth," said Brinkmann. "Both share my optimism about the future and belief in the principles on which the company is based, such as our commitment to creative solutions and value engineering of the highest quality."
On pace to post revenues of approximately $130 million in 2010, Brinkmann is engaged in projects for the U.S. Veterans Administration, branches of the U.S. military, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and schools and universities, including Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis and Francis Howell School District in St. Charles County, Mo.. The firm's current portfolio, dominated by public sector projects, represents its successful diversification from the private sector retail and office assignments that were its mainstays in the past. In addition to Missouri, the firm is currently active in California, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, West Virginia and Washington. It also continues to operate a regional office, opened in 2004, in Denver, Colo.
Long-time private sector clients include THF Realty, Pace Properties, McCormack Baron Salazar, and Schnuck Markets, Inc.
