The ASA-Midwest Council, a chapter of the American Subcontractors Association, has earned the 2007-08 ASA Chapter of the Year Award for a chapter with 100 or more members. The award recognizes the chapter's overall excellence, ranging from its governance to its membership development and government relations programs.

2008-09 ASA President William J. Olmo III, Fedco Construction, Santa Rosa, Calif., presented the award at a September 15 ceremony held in conjunction with the ASA Champions Academy 2008 in Arlington, Va. At the ceremony, ASA Task Force on Recognition Chairman Chip Rohrbach, F. A. Rohrbach Inc., Allentown, Pa., noted that the ASA-Midwest Council's excellence has produced enviable results: "The ASA-Midwest Council has an average retention rate of 90 percent. In addition, the chapter implemented a new recruitment effort last year that resulted in overall membership growth of more than 14 percent."
The task force, composed of ASA members and chapter executives from across the country, selected the ASA-Midwest Council for the honor on the basis of its annual self-evaluation of chapter management practices. Each ASA chapter annually prepares and submits the self-evaluation report to ASA.
